Service

Hey everybody, unfortunately all of our lessons this week that we had planned with all the people we are teaching got postponed to this upcoming week.

But, you can always count on me to have service to talk about, so this week:

 *   We worked in the Bishops storehouse again.
 *   We helped our home owners move in their couches into their house and their old couches into our basement.
 *   With the help of some tools, we helped them move their huge 100-200 lb rocks out of their yard and into a big truck.
 *   We helped move a refrigerator as well as some more furniture into their home, for that part member family.
 *   We did some more yard service for another older part member family
 *   We did have a nice lesson with the recent convert Michael about the word of wisdom.  He is from Colombia and they love their coffee over there so that was fun
 *   We shoveled and rearranged a bunch of dirt
 *   We ripped out 1 plant, 1 small tree
 *   Picked weeds and moved a fireplace to somebody's backyard

I gotta run to a lesson in spanish with a nonmember and the sister missionaries! But have a great week everybody and get pumped for conference this week!

Lots of Service and Teaching.

Alright so this week has been super solid. Let's get right into it

Tomorrow is transfers and I am staying here with my companion Elder Green

We started teaching 4 new people
-Lexi Smith - Shes 9 and is an unbaptized adopted kid.
-Victor Renauld- Hes a catholic from Mexico and he has a family of 5.
-Mason Skokos - He is the unbaptized son of a dad that is reactivating.
-Angelina sandberg - She comes from a part member family. We got to have Elder Costa from the mission presidency join us for the lesson, he shared his conversion story and it went very well. We are super excited to continue meeting with all of these wonderful people.

We had 4 service projects

-We moved a piano then later that night we helped the mother of a part member family move furniture into and out of her house

-We moved 2 couches into a part member family's home.

-Raked leaves, rocks and moved things out of a shed.

-We gave service to another part member family. More raking pine needles.

We went door knocking with our ward mission leader on some part member families homes asking for service and one of them said they would be interested.

We participated in the Refuge Food Drive.

We met with the recent convert Michael Leone and we had the stake patriarch come and talk to him about what patriarchal blessings are.

We had another lesson with Tycen Hawkins. Him and his family are doing really well and they have a little naea named Sophie who is 3 year old. And she is so sweet because she always comes over to me to hold my hand and rest her head on my shoulder. I love naes:)

So yea that is all the highlights from this week, have a great next week everyone!

Finally, Food!

Hey everyone this week has been great! Our ward mission leader and his wife fed us 3 times this week so they came in clutch. It was so nice to start eating some good food again

We had 3 service projects this week

- 1 moving furniture

- 2 clearing out a yard, moving tires, and turning over dirt

- 3 raking pine needles and trimming trees.

We will be returning with those people to help finish their yards later this week.

Our best experience this week was with a part member family. The ward mission leaders wife called the mother of the family and she said that we could all come over and meet them! So we went over and we got to know Tysen, he isn’t a member and he is 9 and likes star wars, so I talked to him about star wars and legos. We have a return appointment with them tonight to start teaching them and introducing him to Primary and the upcoming activites! We are grateful for some of the covid restrictions that were loosed. So that night we had the

-First meal provided by members

-First ride in a members car

-First joint visit with a member to a nonmembers home

We have a teaching event scheduled this week with a non-member family of five to "practice our Spanish by teaching the lessons"

-with a father who is reactivating, and his son who isn’t a member

-with another part member family, and someone in the mission presidency!

It’s gonna be an amazing week this week!

Adios todos

Teaching and Preparing to Return to Chihuahua

This week has been great as we received some very exciting news!

We had some unexpected service this week. We helped a dad with a bad back move 2 couches up 2 flight of stairs. He told us to never play rugby or football so that our backs wouldn't be like his. Afterwards, he showed us a ton of service that we could do for him in his yard so we will be doing that later this week. As a gift in exchange for our service, he gave us a few things of cow meat from his own cows that they had recently "slaughtered"

On Friday, the rules changed and so now we are allowed to knock doors if we have a member and we know who lives in the house! We can also accept food from members, but we just cant eat in their house!

I also recieved the email this week for me to process my new Visa! So we went to Walgreens and I got my 2x2 passport picture.

Then the next day I went into the office and filled out my paperwork so that they could start the process for getting my new Visa to return back to Mexico, so I should be back in Mexico by April or May!

We had a great lesson with an inactive member who hadn't been to church in 10 years!

Then we had another great lesson with Michael leone in spanish. Our goal for him is to Get him to recieve the Melchezedic priesthood and get his PB.

We also had a lesson with another family. Their whole family are members except the dad isnt a member. But he knows the doctrine of the gospel, loves the church, and actually comes to church every week. What we have heard about him is that, he loves our church, while holding a glass of wine in his hand. So we had fun with them and played jenga and then reviewed the book of mormon with them.

That's all for this week. Next week we actually have lots of potential people that we think we will begin teaching!

1. We used some of the dominos gift card we recieved this week

2. My new passport pictures - its almost time to go back to Chihuahua!

Faith

There isn't too much to talk about this week, but here are a few things.

One of the most exciting things that happened this week was that the recent convert Brother Tony Ma blessed the sacrament in church for the first time! And English isn't his first language and he did a great job.

Another highlight of this week was that we had another lesson in Spanish with another recent convert named Michael Leone. He is from Colombia and his parents are Catholic, and he just has an amazing conversion story. We are excited to continue meeting with him and talking in Spanish. We are hoping to have a lesson and get the Stake Patriarch to be there and talk about patriarchal blessings with him.

Tonight and this week, we have set up lessons with multiple Part Member Families. So after much work and a LOT of calling, we are confident that we will finally find some more people to teach this week!

I am currently in Ether right now in the Book of Mormon and I just wanted to share this powerful scripture on faith.

6 And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.

We know from the Bible that we are asked to walk by faith and not by sight. I have seen an increase in my faith and diligence here in this mission in Utah, as we have been relentless in our efforts to try and find new people to teach. We continue to press forward with faith, even though at times it seems hard to see the fruits of our efforts. I encourage you all to do the same!
